Christopher Marlowe 於 The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus 一劇中，藉 Faustus 之口，恭（或是諷？）紅顔禍水大美女 Helen of Troy 為“The face that launch'd a thousand ships” （驅動千帆的容顔）。

後人舉一反三，將醜女稱之為“The face that sinks a thousand ships.”。

西方醜女沉船，東方美女沉魚，令人莞爾。
